Leeds Careers Charter

Your Future – Our Commitment

The Leeds Careers Charter is a commitment from Leeds City Council along with schools and businesses to raise the bar on careers education and bridge the gap between education and employment for all young people in the city.

The charter outlines 8 commitments of practical support to inspire, inform and involve young people in their journey for a successful future.

  • Guidance & support from careers professionals
  • Experiences of the workplace
  • Lessons linked to the world of work & future careers
  • Inspiration & advice direct from amazing employers
  • Information on options with sixth forms, colleges, universities & training providers
  • Opportunities to develop essential work & life skills
  • Access to apprenticeships, jobs & future career possibilities
  • Personalised Digital Profile & CV to record skills, experiences & goals

Schools & Colleges

The Charter pledges to give young people experiences and information to help them be better informed about the full range of education, training and careers available in the city.

It will also help them to develop the skills, attitudes and behaviours they need to make positive transitions at each stage of their journey.

To get involved, schools and colleges are encouraged to attend the city’s CEIAG Network meeting. For details, please contact Tracy Waud via

The Charter provides employers with a platform to engage with their future workforce.

To deliver each of the 8 commitments it is essential that employers pledge their support and get involved so that young people in Leeds get the best possible experiences and support on their journey to a successful future.

There are many organisations and programmes that can help employers to engage meaningfully with schools and colleges. Find out more below.
